Firefox YATS Extension
Robert F.P. Ludwick
I switched from using a Firefox extension named Simple Tab Groups to using Firefox’s native tab groups. I was happy to make the switch, but because I’d collapsed my multi-window approach to a single window with tab groups, I found it annoying to either hover the tab groups for the tab I wanted, or to click them open and then click to my desired tab. I thought to myself that I really wanted an Apple Spotlight-style ability to quick switch to other tabs by typing in part of the tab name. I didn’t spend long searching in the extensions marketplace to find a solution before I just decided to let Claude write it for me. It took five minutes to build the prototype, initially.

I was intending to use the extension locally only, but a coworker told me it looked pretty good and that I should publish it. So I did! I added a few more features, ran it through a few rounds of Claude reviews (security, complexity, performance, and such) and ended up publishing a minified version to Mozilla. So here it is in all its glory. Written for myself, but you can use it if you like.
It’s pronounced Yahtzee, like the dice game.
